Mother Teresa, born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu on August 26, 1910, in Skopje (now part of North Macedonia), was a legendary figure known worldwide for her tireless dedication to the service of the poor and destitute. At the age of 18, Mother Teresa left her home to join the Sisters of Loreto, an Irish Catholic missionary order. In 1950, she founded the Missionaries of Charity (MOC).
The MOC is devoted to serving the hungry, the naked, the homeless, the crippled, the blind, the lepers, all those people who feel unwanted, unloved, uncared for throughout society, people that have become a burden to the society and are shunned by everyone. The Sisters of Charity dedicated themselves to serving those in need with a profound sense of love and compassion.
